Aurora Day Trips

Simply the most popular aurora-viewing tour in town. The highlight of your visit to Yellowknife should be none other than the nightly Aurora-viewing Tour to Aurora Village. It has the world-class facility for aurora-viewing. Its image with aurora dancing over it is recognized throughtout the world. Warm and attentive service will make your experience easy and comfortable. Tour prices include round trip transportation from downtown Yellowknife hotels. You will base yourself in one of our heated teepees, as you go on your way exploring for the best spot to see the aurora. Lantern-lit paths offer an intimate, friendly northern lights experience. Catch the Aurora from a hilltop or on a lake, with a 360 degree view. We have access to special heated seats which accommodate two in a reclining position for warm and comfortable waiting and viewing. Late-night snack of soup and bannock is served in our beautiful dining hall while aurora slide shows are presented on the big screen. Hot beverage is provided in the teepees. Approx. 4.5 hours ($120, and REDUCED price for additional nights). Aurora photographer on site can take your photo with the Aurora. Premium grade winter clothing is available for rent.

MOST POPULAR TOUR!!! We invite you to have an afternoon of winter fun at Aurora Village with list of things you can enjoy. The most popular is the dog team rides. A dog kennel is on-site and visitors can meet our teams and have pictures taken. About 15 minute ride on beautiful wooded trails with ups and downs, and curbs left and right. In a temperature of minus 30, 40degrees during the winter this is most comfortable ride. The tour includes not only the dog team ride experience, but hot drinks, a marshmallow roast at our fire pit, and tubing on our giant slide, try out our traditional snowshoe, and much much more. The tour last for about 4 hrs in the afternoon. ($95) Or, you can drive your own dog team for 20 minutes after brief instruction ($145). For additonal activity such as 30 minute snowmobile ride or guided snowshoe nature walk add $50.

Hiking

SUMMER-FALL ONLY. Come with us to Cameron Falls. Only a 45 minute drive on Ingraham Trail and a 30 minute hike will take you to a beautiful waterfall. Ingraham Trail will be coloured with yellow leaves of birch and poplar during mid-September, and is just stunning! A must for visitors. 4hrs. ($95)

Snowmobiling

We invite you to have an afternoon of winter fun at Aurora Village with list of things you can enjoy. You can operate your own snowmobile for 30 minutes in a very safe environment. A dog kennel is on-site and visitors can meet our teams and have pictures taken. The tour includes not only the snowmobile ride experience, but also hot drinks, a marshmallow roast at our fire pit, tubing on our giant slide, try out our traditional snowshoe, or even have your pictures of the dogs at our on-site kennel, and much much more. Roundtrip transporation from your hotel to Aurora Village is also provided. The tour last for about 4 hrs in the afternoon. ($95) Or, you can drive your own dog team for 20 minutes after brief instruction ($145). For additonal activity such as 30 minute dog team ride or guided snowshoe nature walk add $50.

Snowshoeing

We invite you to have an afternoon of winter fun at Aurora Village with list of things you can enjoy. You can go on a guided nature walk with our nature guide on traditional snowshoes deep into Aurora Village. You will learn about the wildlife and fauna of the region. The walk on fresh snow is about 45 minutes. The tour includes not only the guided walk, but also hot drinks, a marshmallow roast at our fire pit, tubing on our giant slide, or even have your pictures of the dogs at our on-site kennel, and much much more. Roundtrip transporation from your hotel to Aurora Village is also provided. The tour last for about 4 hrs in the afternoon. ($95) For additonal activity such as 30 minute dog team ride or snowmobile ride add $50.

Wildlife Viewing

SUMMER-FALL ONLY. A drive to the Mackenzie Bison Sanctuary as we head west and down the main highway leading south. You will be able to see the herds of free roaming 'buffalos' on the roadside, or on the road. There are lone buffalos that are not shy from giving you the photo ops. About 5 hrs.($150)

SUMMER-FALL ONLY Join the Buffalo Spirit or the Eagle Spirit, 26 foot traditional freighter canoes as they cruise scenic and historic Yellowknife Bay on Great Slave Lake. Interpretive tour includes pickup from your hotel and shore lunch. ($95)

Have your next meeting at a unique venue so close to town, yet feels like miles away in the natural setting of Aurora Village. Our expanded Dining Hall can easily accommodate 100 people. it is one of the cleanest and the most beautiful in Yellowknife. Breakout into smaller groups in our heated teepees. Add some group activities as dog team rides or tubing on a slide for team building. It will be the most memorable meeting or party you've had in long time! Lunches and Dinners can be arranged to suite your needs. Transporation available.
