Dogsledding

Until you have heard the crisp silence of the Sub-Arctic winter or seen the Aurora Borealis as you cruise behind a team of frisky huskies, you just haven't experienced the magic of the North!
Gliding across a frozen lake on a dog sled with frost in your eyelashes and a half dozen handsome dogs bounding excitedly ahead of you is the ultimate Northern experience. Dog sledding, northern Canada's timeless means of travel, is a favorite of all who visit Blachford Lake Lodge in the winter season. Short trip or long, our staff and our pack of friendly happy dogs can accommodate you! Packages range from 90 minute introductions to overnight trips complete with meals and campsite under the stars. Visit our website for prices and details.

Snowmobiling

Most guests renting snow machines prefer to have a guide – especially for the longer and more remote trails. Helmets are provided. Our guides can introduce you to snowmobiling, or, if you are comfortable on your own, you can rent a machine yourself. Many of our trails follow long established winter highways – the dog team routes used by local people for millennia. There are hundreds of kilometres of trails in this area.
Our rental machines are long track 300 Skidoo Tundras, comfortable and light. Our guides use a two-person long track, ideal if you are not at ease operating your own machine. Your guide will provide a safety orientation, check your clothing and the fit of your helmet, review the map and help you select points of interest. Options include a short introductory ride to a full day of exploring. Snowmobile route maps are available. Guided trips range from 2 hour excursions to 8 hour/ all day adventures. Contact the Lodge for detailed descriptions and prices.
