MacKay Lake Lodge (True North Safaris Ltd.)

MacKay Lake Lodge is situated on a gravel esker mid-way along the 160 kilometer long Mackay Lake. In the heart of the barren lands, caribou migrate and there's some of the best fishing in the world. Giant lake trout, arctic grayling and northern pike can be caught under the midnight sun after ice out at the end of June till Sept when the lakes begin to freeze again.

Aurora Lodges

Fall aurora viewing in the barren lands at MacKay Lake Lodge can be combined with caribou and wildlife photography and fishing. The barren lands are truly the home of the aurora or spirit walker. It is so vivid at times that you can almost hear it dancing as it ripples in rainbow colours. Your package includes a trip on the ice road from Yellowknife to MacKay Lake, and two nights at MacKay Lake Lodge. Travel north to a diamond mine.
