Aurora Day Trips

Northern Lights Tour: A clear dark sky and high solar activity can provide an evening light show that is worth staying up into the wee hours for. Our northern lights tour package includes return transportation from your hotel leaving Yellowknife at approx. 9 p.m. and returning at 1:30 a.m. Enjoy a cozy cabin, hot beverages and snacks. Minimum capacity 2 guests. Price $110 per person +GST.

Aurora Lodges

Join us for an exciting opportunity to capture the northern lights during Solar Maximum and develop your digital photographic abilities. You will see special points of interest while in the City of Yellowknife before flying to Peterson's Point Lake Lodge where you can witness the annual caribou migration as well as see the plants and lichens that shape the intricate beauty of the tundra. Only offered one week per year to capture the fall colors on the tundra.

All-Inclusive Fishing Lodges

Guided Fishing Trips. Looking to land a trophy lake trout? Whether you fly-fish or troll, you will be rewarded with incredible lake trout. Our all-inclusive fly-out fishing packages take you over the treeline to Point Lake. Experience fishing in the barrens once, and you'll be hooked! Price varies on length of trip, starting at $3,170.

Options: Guided day trips for great northern pike and arctic grayling are available and can be combined with any of the above packages.

Ice Roads

Travel the route made famous by the Ice Road Truckers along the Ingraham Trail to the Ice Road leading to the diamond mines.

Hiking

Hiking Tour - Cameron Waterfalls or Ramparts: Just beyond the City limits you can enjoy a scenic drive on the Ingraham Trail to the Cameron Falls trailhead where you can take a short hike (approximately 1.2 km) to view the falls. Highlights and possible stops along the way include the outdoor Mining Heritage Display at Giant Mine and the Yellowknife River where you will learn about the Yellowknife River Legend, a piece of Dene history. Total time for this tours is approximately 4-5 hours in length. This tour can be adapted to meet your interests. Price: $95.00 per person. Add: Freshly packed picnic lunch with beverage $15.00 Minimum: 2 guests.

View special points of interest while in the City of Yellowknife before flying to Peterson's Point Lake Lodge and witnessing the caribou migration and the intricate beauty of the tundra.

Caribou

Thousands of caribou pass through Point Lake each season on their annual migration. Watching the caribou migration on the barrens is an incredible experience. Our annual Arctic Photography Workshop with Dr. Robert Berdan provides instruction for all levels of photographers or anyone interested in viewing nature and exploring the tundra at the ideal time of year to enjoy this type of outdoor adventure. The colours of the tundra are rich and vibrant with reds, yellow and golds. Migratory wildlife including grizzly bears are commonly sighted during this time as well as tundra swans, peregrine falcons and arctic terns. Northern lights can be sighted as well.

Touring

Expand your awareness and appreciation of the plants and animals of the Northwest Territories. Savour the flavours of locally harvested caribou, moose, fish and wild berries. Learn about their Aboriginal uses from our cultural educator and enjoy professional guided instruction in preparing and cooking these foods.

Sightseeing Day Trips

Dreams of gold began in Yellowknife in 1934 when a couple of prospectors discovered the precious metal. Join local experts on an intimate tour of the City and/or the Ingraham Trail. Explore the stories of the people and cultural historic sites and learn about the building of this gold mining town to the diamond capital it is today. See local art and learn about the history and culture of the people that make this area unique.
