Hearne Lake Lodge

Remote fly-in, fishing lodge, accessible in summer exclusively by float plane, only 20 minute flight east of Yellowknife. To serve you better we limit ourselves to eight people maximum at one time, June to mid-September. We are fishers serving fishers and it shows. Northern Pike, Lake Trout, Arctic Grayling, Whitefish, lake and river fishing from one lodge. We cater to both novice and hardcore fishers and can supply all the equipment if you wish. If you want to try something new, take advantage of our free fly fishing equipment and lessons. Remoteness with all the comforts of home. We are an all inclusive lodge, one price says it all, free phone/wireless internet, laptop supplied, all taxes and fishing license included. Don will also be more than glad to gather your images and videos to produce a DVD for you to take home to enjoy and share with your friends and family. Aurora

Aurora Lodges

Hearne Lake Lodge is a leisurely 90 minute snowmobile ride from Reid Lake, on the Ingraham Trail near Yellowknife. You can follow the marked trail, or let us guide you. GPS portage co-ordinates are available. You can also fly in to Hearne Lake Lodge by ski-plane. Stay at Hearne Lake Lodge and enjoy home cooked meals, ice fishing (licenses available), snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and the northern lights. Four double occupancy heated bedrooms are available. Start the day with a hearty breakfast before heading back to Yellowknife, or stay all week for a relaxing retreat. Open from February 1st to March 31st (or as long as ice safe). Advance booking only. pp

Fly Fishing

Fly Fishing for Lake tout, Northern Pike, Arctic Grayling and Lake Whitefish is fast becoming our major attraction. Take advantage of our free supplied fly fishing equipment and free lessons. 40 X 16 foot dock for fishing seminars and practice before Don puts you onto a 40 inch Northern. Fly tying vise and supplies available. Create your own favorite fly.

Ice Fishing

Ice fish for Northern Pike, Lake Trout, Whitefish and Walleye. Guided day trips to other lakes by snowmobile with ski mounted portable heated ice hut. B & B with us or stay as long as you like.

Outdoor Adventure

Ice Roads

Hearne Lake Lodge is accessible by snowmobile on the old ice road to the Bull Moose and Beaulieu gold mines. Trail starts at Reid Lake Camp Ground. There are 9 portages/land bridges to Hearne Lake Lodge. It is a leisurely 2 hour ride by snowmobile.

Winter Lodges

Winter accommodations in heated private rooms. Hearne Lake Lodge is accessible by X country skiing, snowmobile or ski plane. We can also pick you up at Reid Lake Campground on the Ingraham Trail and bring you in by covered sleigh. Ice fishing, Snowmobiling, Winter wildlife viewing, Northern lights viewing. We reside at our lodge year round so we are open to winter public as soon as ice and weather permits, Usually February to end of March or mid April for spring conditions. Also available to resident hunters fall and winter with advance notice.

Hiking

You can walk the old winter roads and many trails out the back door of the lodge. Our dogs Pepper and Polar will gladly accompany you on your outing. Walking stick supplied.

Skiing

Cross county ski from Yellowknife or Reid Lake to Hearne Lake lodge on one of the old gold mine winter roads. New in 2010 we can sled you and your equipment into the lodge and you can take day trips from there. Guiding or snowmobile assistance available upon request for group trips. Snowmobiling

You can snowmobile to Hearne Lake Lodge from Yellowknife by way or the Reid Lake Camp Ground situated on the Ingraham trail. Google Earth Image Maps available via email and guiding also upon request. Snowmobiles rental in Yellowknife.

Wildlife Viewing

Wildlife viewing, wolves, moose, caribou, lynx, birds and waterfowl. Bird identification books available at lodge.

Getting Here

In the summer we are accessible by Float Plane only and in the winter by Ski Plane out of Yellowknife or X country skiing or Snowmobile on deserted gold mine winter ice roads.

By Air

Twenty minute float plane ride from Yellowknife to our remote lodge situated on Hearne Lake.
