Since 1987, offering guided canoeing and hiking expeditions accessed through Norman Wells in the Sahtu Region of the Northwest Territories including the Redstone, Natla, Keele, Mountain, Bonnet Plume, Snake, Wind, Horton & Great Bear Rivers, & the Canol Heritage Trail & Mackenzie Mountain Hiking. Let the adventure begin....
The Sahtu Region of the Northwest Territories is a spectacular wilderness bounded on the east by the legendary Great Bear Lake and on the west by the Yukon border high in the towering Mackenzie Mountains. Through Norman Wells, the central hub of the region, ten world-class rivers can be accessed. These rivers are pristine, turquoise strands that weave through the wildlands of the caribou, moose, dall's sheep, bear and wolf. Their most notable attributes are their general lack of portages, barely noticaeble bugs and swift current for exhilerating paddling. Hiking in the Mackenzie Mountains can take you to heights of 10,000 feet or through weaving trails in the mountain valleys. Every Canadian should visit this land.
For the last 20 years, Canoe North Adventures has delivered exceptional wilderness experiences on the rivers of the far north. Our strength is our personal approach to taking canoeists safely down the world-class rivers of this region with a huge amount of fun. We offer canoeing expeditions for novice, intermediate & advanced paddlers on the Redstone, Natla, Keele, Snake, Bonnet Plume, Wind, Mountain, Horton, Great Bear, Burnside, Yukon & Pelly Rivers.
We offer hiking expeditions in the Sahtu region of the Northwest Territories in the Mackenzie Mountains & on the Canol Heritage Trail. Accessible from Norman Wells. NWT, these hiking regions are some of the most pristine & beautiful in the world. The Canol Heritage Trail starts high in the Mackenzie Mountains travelling easily down to Godlin Lakes through Caribou Pass & some of the most beautiful vistas in the far north.
