1. Arts and crafts. Enterprise, Fort Providence, Jean Marie River and Fort Liard are widely recognized for the quality and range of traditional Dene crafts they produce and market. Look for beaded moccasins, unique porcupine quill embroidery, and moosehair tufting embroidery. Fort Liard is famous for its birchbark baskets.

vehicle. NWT drivers are usually willing to assist, and large trucks
can radio for help. If you have an accident, report it to the RCMP in
the nearest community. Most communities along the highway system have a health centre and medical assistance is as close as the telephone.

If you like to take to the open road, this is the place for you. There are no four-lane interchanges here, just wide-open spaces beside our highways. And out on the water, you can boat for hours without seeing another soul. But as you travel, you are likely to see wildlife – bison and bears and foxes along the highways, eagles and osprey, otters and muskrat along our waterways.
