Most of our Northwest Territories communities have scheduled service by local airlines. Depending on where you want to go, you might travel by jet, or single or twin-engine aircraft. Hopping floatplanes to wilderness destinations is definitely part of the fun.
It is easy to reach the Northwest Territories by air from major airports in southern and western Canada. There are direct jet flights to Yellowknife, for example, from Calgary, Edmonton and seasonally, Vancouver. The flight from Edmonton to Yellowknife is about one hour and 20 minutes. From Calgary, the flight is approximately two hours. Jet service is also available from Ottawa via Iqaluit, Nunavut.
