Looking for a good fight, or just a great meal? Anglers can fish for more than nine top species in the Northwest Territories.
Visitors and residents over the age of 16 and under 65 require Northwest Territories fishing licences, available by mail, from government offices or at lodges and convenience stores across the territory.
Nothing beats the fresh taste of fish caught in the Northwest Territories. Eating fish fresh from the lake in the northern wilderness is almost decadent. No five star restaurant can ever match such spectacular flavours.
Trout are delicious, of course, but northern pike have a firm white flesh that cooks perfectly, wrapped in foil over a small fire on a deserted beach. Arctic char is an exotic luxury in many parts of the northern world. Northern residents tend to favour whitefish and pickerel. These are the fish that sell out first at northern hotels and restaurants.
Our guests also can sample more exotic fare. A special northern meal might include moose, muskox, ptarmigan, wild tundra berries or bison. Whether it’s a snack on a boat, or a full spread in a lodge dining room, the meals of the North will certainly tempt your appetite.
