Looking for a good fight, or just a great meal? Anglers can fish for more than nine top species in the Northwest Territories.
Visitors and residents over the age of 16 and under 65 require Northwest Territories fishing licences, available by mail, from government offices or at lodges and convenience stores across the territory.
You can troll our lakes, jig from a boat, stand on water’s edge with your spinning reel, or cast your fly while knee-deep in a river.
You have a choice of fish, as well. You might hook a 35 kg lake trout that’ll get your name in the record books. You could seek out a 1 kg Arctic grayling that will take to the air with spectacular acrobatics. Voracious northern pike might be more your style. Our waters offer many more exciting catches - Arctic char, bull trout, pickerel, burbot, dolly varden, inconnu, and whitefish.
