NWT Parks and CampgroundsOur Northwest Territories roadside parks and campgrounds are among the best in Canada, featuring unique landforms, waterfalls, and spectacular vistas. Territorial Parks welcome you, and offer excellent resources for picnicking, camping, boating and wilderness trips.

For a complete list of territorial parks and day use sites visit www.iti.gov.nt.ca/tourismparks/parks.

Camping offers just a touch of luxury at fully serviced Territorial campgrounds. You'll find ample parking for your RV, together with drinking water and often, electricity. Tenters enjoy tent platforms with a view or sheltered spots away from other campers, with access to showers and kitchen shelters. Each camping or RV site has a picnic table and fire ring or camp stove. There are nightly charges for camping sites. There is also a small charge for firewood. Park officers regularly visit the campgrounds and if there is no one at the camp office, they will find you.

Territorial campgrounds are usually open from May 15 to September 15, depending on weather conditions. You can reserve campground spaces at www.campingnwt.ca or email: parksandtourism@gov.nt.ca.

Fishing is excellent at some locations, (you need a fishing licence!) and unless posted, the fish are safe to eat. Try fishing at Blackstone, Cameron River, Dory Point, Fort Providence and Fort Simpson Parks. Dogs are permitted but must be on a leash.

When Territorial campgrounds are closed there may be excellent opportunities for fall and winter activities. Trails or lakes can be accessed by boat, on foot, snowshoe, ski or snowmachine. However, park services such as toilets and garbage removal are not provided, and trails will not be cleared of snow. You enter at your own risk. Winter use requires that you carry all waste out with you.

In communities away from the roads, with no Territorial Parks, please check with the community office for a place to park your tent.
