Hot Sport for Cold Weather

SnowmobilingIf snowmobiling's your speed, our northern winter offers wide new horizons to conquer. Try our network of snowy forest trails or a winter ice road. Ride from Inuvik to Tuktoyaktuk on the Mackenzie River, drive the portage trail along the Slave River, or hop aboard for a trip to a trapper's camp in the northern woods.

You can rent a machine and winter gear in town or at a winter lodge and take a guided trek or travel on your own. One of the most spectacular trips combines forest and lake trails with the serene beauty of the East Arm. In late March and April, super-hot snowmobile races are held at community carnivals.
