Driving north from the Alberta/Northwest Territories border on NWT Highway 1, you'll encounter the 60th Parallel Visitor Centre, then the Twin Falls Territorial Park, and at the junction of Highway 1 and 2, Enterprise. Take a break from the highway and stop at Winnie's – offering gas, home cooked meals and snacks and a very fine selection of Dene art and crafts.
This tiny community formed when the highway was built, and now has hamlet status. There’s a nice picnic spot beside the Hay River, with a great view. Highway 1 (the Deh Cho Travel Connection) and Highway 2 leading to Hay River go their separate ways here. Languages spoken here include English, Slavey and Chipewyan.
Fine Quality Arts and CraftsTraditional Dene crafts are unique, high quality, one of a kind collectibles. |
