Trout Lake

Trout LakeAccessible only by winter road or air charter, Trout Lake (Sambaa Ke, trout lake place) is a community of Slavey families who settled on this large lake to hunt, fish and trap. They operate Trout Lake Lodge, on one of the NWT's larger lakes. The lodge and cabins are constructed entirely of local logs. The setting is special - the area is covered in open spruce forest carpeted with mosses and berries, and the lodge is located on a broad sandy beach. The fishing is excellent – lake trout, pike and pickerel are found abundance in this 504 square kilometre lake. The community is a short boat ride from the lodge, and also offers accommodation. Trails lead from the lodge along the south shore of the lake.
