Whati is a traditional Tlicho community on the shores of Lac La Martre, the third largest lake in the Northwest Territories, renowned for its trout fishing. Extensive marshlands in this area are a haven for birds through the summer, as North American flyways converge here. Services include bed and breakfast accommodations, a community store, and scheduled flights from Yellowknife. Boat and fishing tours can be arranged. In winter, an ice road connects to the Mackenzie Highway at Behchoko.
