Western Arctic Hiking

Western Arctic HikingStretch your legs on trails around Inuvik. You can cover a few kilometers on the Boot Lake, Treeline/Tundra and Old Baldy trails. Walk the East Channel shore or check out the ski trails that start at the Ski Club.

Along the Dempster Highway, the Richardson Mountains offer great hiking on treeless tundra. Start from the highway or fly in to hike. In midsummer you can hike for miles in round-the-clock daylight.

For extreme adventure, go hiking in Tuktut Nogait National Park.

Jimmy Adams Peace Park Trail

This Inuvik trail weaves through an impressive spruce forest with views of Boot Lake and its wetlands, which provide ideal habitat for waterfowl. Access from Mackenzie Road via Duck Lake Street, where the trailhead is marked by a sign. Also accessible from the boat launch on the eastern side of Boot Lake.
