Paulatuk is located on Darnley Bay, 400 km east of Inuvik, near the mouth of the Hornaday River. This is the headquarters for Tuktut Nogait National Park. Local outfitters offer access to the park's hiking and canoeing by boat. The Cape Parry bird sanctuary, north of Paulatuk, protects the nesting grounds of thick billed murres. Experienced guides offer trips on Darnley Bay and to the Smoking Hills on Franklin Bay. There's a small hotel, offering meals by prior arrangement.
