Tuktoyaktuk – "Looks Like a Caribou"

TuktoyaktukTuk is set on the edge of the Mackenzie Delta on Canada's Arctic coast. Tours are available from Inuvik to see landmarks in the community and visit the pingos, unusual hills formed by frozen water.

Dip your toe in the Arctic Ocean! Visit a reconstructed sod house and a natural underground ice freezer. Meet local carvers and artists and sample "maktak", drymeat and local berries. Catch a performance of the Tuktoyaktuk Drummers and Dancers.

Local tours and boat and snowmobile expeditions are offered. There are daily flights from Inuvik. The winter ice road leading from Inuvik on the Mackenzie River along the Beaufort Sea shoeline to Tuk, is well traveled in season.
