Shopping for Diamonds

When prospectors found diamonds on the rugged tundra north of Yellowknife in the 1990s they sparked the greatest Canadian staking rush ever. Today, visitors flock to the Northwest Territories capital to find the perfect Canadian Arctic diamond.

Stop in at the Northern Frontier Visitor Centre and the Rio Tinto/Diavik displays to see where the diamonds come from and how they are mined in the pristine north. Then sample the selection of Canadian Diamonds at jewellers and gift shops in the capital city.
