Yellowknife Events on Ice

Snowking's ice castleIn the long days of northern spring, the sun sparkles on the snow and residents head out of doors. Two of the biggest attractions are the 150 mile Canadian Championship Dog Derby, and the Rock and Ice Ultra, both tough endurance races that draw two- and four-footed participants from across North America and around the world. Snowmobiling is popular, and kite skiing is making inroads with the younger set.

At night there's an opportunity to see the world’s best natural light show, the Aurora Borealis, and there's great fun to be had at the Snowking's ice castle, with dances and art shows on the ice of Yellowknife Bay.
